What: Arm balances can be one of the most exciting parts of your yoga practice. They can also invoke a ton of fear, self-judgement and confusion. It is no secret that our physical yoga practice can mirror our approach to life. Arm balances can show us a lot about how we greet situations in which we feel uncomfortable or fearful. Learn how to break past those fears and challenge yourself beyond your limits. When you learn to build the proper foundation and harness your breath, these poses become one of the best ways to arrive in the present moment. They require your complete and utter focus and attention, allowing you to be fully present with yourself.
In this workshop you will learn the biomechanics involved with the most popular arm balances, such as, bakasana(crow/crane), parsva bakasana(side crow), eka pada koundinyasana(hurdler’s pose), and titibasana (firefly). A proper understanding of alignment and bandhas will allow you create a sustainable practice with integrity, reducing the risk for injury.
This workshop will include a vinyasa style flow to warm up key parts of the body, a breakdown of anatomy and plenty of time to explore the most popular arm balances in depth. We will also explore a series of wrist therapy techniques that will relieve stress and develop strong and healthy wrists, which are a major component of arm balances. Ready to fly?

Often times we hear of hip openers and we think of pigeon pose, but did you know that most yoga poses are “hip openers” in some way shape or form. It's so important to find balance in the hips. In this two hour workshop you will learn the 6 different functions of the hips and how to create strength, mobility, stability and flexibility. When we focus on a balance of these 4 actions we can help to alleviate low back pain, experience better posture and range of motion. This workshop will be slower paced and suitable for all levels.

Learn the foundations of the most common yoga inversions headstand(sirsasana) forearm stand(pincha mayurasana) and handstand(adho mukha vrksasana).
Inversions are thought to have positive benefits for the circulatory and lymphatic systems, as well as increased mental concentration. Jenna will break down the biomechanics and alignment of each pose to help you set up a solid foundation, that works for your body. This workshop will help you to understand how powerful your breath and bandhas can be, through simple breathing and core strengthening practices. She will lead you through wrist and shoulder mobility exercises to maintain healthy range of motion in your joints. This workshop looks at various drills that help you acquire, or build on existing strength, while gaining confidence and ease as you turn your world upside down. These are drills that you can incorporate into your routine to gain the muscle memory to execute these challenging and fun poses.

Adho Mukha Vrksasana, a.k.a. Handstand can be one of the most exciting, energizing and exhilarating parts of your practice. For many, this pose can bring up a lot of fear and anxiety. “What if I fall? I’m going to break something! What if I knock someone over?.” If this sounds like your inner dialogue, then this workshop is for you! In this 2 hour class we will explore ways to overcome that fear and gain confidence going upside down through skillful alignment and techniques. We will explore how to safely enter and exit various types of handstands, in a fun and supportive environment. You will leave with the fundamentals of this inversion, anatomy of the pose, wrist therapy techniques, as well as variations to spice up your practice. Class will include a short discussion, a flow designed to warm up key parts of the body, ample time to explore variations, and time to ask questions. This workshop is suitable for beginners, as well as, seasoned practitioners looking to refine their inversion practice. Come ready to play and shift your perspective in this powerful pose!

Escape with Nina Petruzzo and Jenna Zabrosky to Lake Atitlan, a magical crater lake located in the heart of Guatemala. You must have a valid passport to travel to Guatemala. Please check your passport expiration date and make sure it is valid for at least 6 months after the end date of your retreat.
A Visa is not required for US Citizens visiting Guatemala, unless you're staying in Guatemala, Nicaragua, Honduras and El Salvador for more than 90 days.
No immunizations are required for visiting Guatemala, however, the CDC recommends you're up to date on your Hepatitis A and Typhoid shots. See more info here.
