February 6th, 13th and 20th
In this 3 week series we will go back to the basics. It can be intimidating walking into a studio class for the first time. There is a misconception that only certain people can practice yoga. That couldn’t be farther from the truth. Yoga is for ALL humans! Sometimes it just takes trying out a few styles until you find what works for you. Having a basic understanding of the physical postures, breathing, and philosophy will give you the confidence to step into a traditional setting if you chose to do so or to build a home practice.
Each week we will gradually build upon the last, covering the following topics: Foundations of Yoga postures (asana), basic alignment principles Foundations of Pranayama(Breath) and Drishti(Focus)
Brief intro into the WHY of yoga and philosophy. Self Inquiry and how to discern for yourself what poses work for you and what poses do not serve you
This workshop series is a 3 week commitment. It is suitable for beginners or practitioners looking to refine and refresh their basic knowledge of yoga.
3 week commitment
February 7th-28th (except Feb 14th)
3 week mobility series
Week 1: February 6th 5:30-6:30 P.M. Upper Body Mobility, Shoulders, Neck, Wrists
Week 2: February 21st 5:30-6:30 P.M. Lower Body, Hips, Legs, Ankles, Feet
Week 3: February 28th 5:30-6:30 P.M. Spine Mobility
There is a misconception that flexibility is the goal in yoga. Although, flexibility seems like something to strive for, it only a small piece of the puzzle. Flexibility is how far you can go to your end range of motion whereas mobility is the ability to actively control within this range. It is one thing to be able to slide into full splits, but can you control and contract your muscles once in the posture?
This three week workshop series will focus on mobility, or actively taking our muscles and joints into their range of motion. You will be guided through a series of yoga mobility routines, which you will take home, that can be incorporated into your daily practice. Why is this important? Yoga mobility exercises can help you to strengthen as you create greater range of motion. This can help with injury prevention, as well as recovery. The goal is for yoga to be a lifelong practice, so rather than striving to always go deeper into poses, let's strive to create strength. This workshop series is suitable for all levels.
$90 Per Person for all 3 sessions (3 week commitment)
